If you haven’t watched the Cannes-winning Netflix series When Heroes Fly–the story of four former IDF veterans who served together in the 2006 Lebanon War are reunited for a rescue mission in Colombia to rescue a loved one believed to have died in a car accident after the war–you are missing out on one of the best shows on the streaming network.

In fact, the person the four Israeli army vets are searching for is one of that country’s biggest music stars, platinum recording artist Ninet Tayeb, who is presently on tour across the United States with British Invasion legends The Zombies, and just performed a powerful set this past Tuesday night at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade.

And while she is putting the finishing touches on her upcoming third English-speaking LP set for release in early 2020, Tayeb continues to build her audience for a much-deserved American breakthrough with the release of a new single, a fiery and impassioned cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock,” the video of which you can watch below.

Make sure you catch this promising new voice to American shores any way you can. She’s awesome. Listen to her version of “Woodstock” and it sounds like this killer balance of PJ Harvey earnestness colliding with Pat Benatar bombast in the best way possible.

Having just relocated to Los Angeles,  I can’t wait to hear what Ninet Tayeb has cooking for us next.
